Lions and tigers and bears, OH MY!

Last Saturday we joined a group of Jim’s colleagues who planned a to trip to the Shanghai Wild Animal Park www.shwzoo.com in Nanhui, Pudong. Our day included riding a camel, bird feeding, lemur feeding, giant and lesser panda viewing, bear viewing, sea lion kissing and Lion, tiger and cheetah feeding.

Only in China can you climb into a bus (which is also a cage, thank goodness) and feed live chickens to “kitties” as Jameson named them. No, I did not let Jameson watch the chickens being devoured, as it is a little too gruesome for him and even for me. He did enjoy seeing the “kitties” who were only a few feet away from us. It was surreal to be that close to a preying animal without feeling like prey. Only in China!

It cracks me up how kids find the funniest things to play with.
There is an amazing camel just waiting for their attention,
but the thing that peaks their interest is not the exotic animal, but the dirty drain!

Toppins a bag...

Hopefully the lesser pandas will not develop a complex

Daddy time!

Marine world?

We were the caged animals... You can see the shoot where they put the live chickens.
Yes, that is a lion mane.  No I was not using a zoom lens; we were that close!
Jameson saw the raw meat and said "Yummm" then he meowed at the lions as drew close to attack.

Does anyone know what kind of bear this is?  I could not find the English name anywhere.
The lemur is telling us to go home because they were closed early due to a thunder storm.

"Xiao yu" rain, rain go away!

I hope you have better weather then we are having. For once in my life, I envy Oregon weather! But, warm weather is on its way, and then I'm sure I will be praying for cool weather again.

Love you all,
Lori
